The city of Cibolo on Nov. 21 celebrated the opening of a new City Hall Annex that was formerly a historic schoolhouse, which the city rehabilitated.

Located at 201 Loop 539 W., Cibolo, the schoolhouse was built in 1916, and the city focused on preserving the historic character of the structure during the rehabilitation process.

According to city staff, the 8,000-square-foot schoolhouse will house various city departments that will be relocated from City Hall and features a community room for public meetings and presentations.

The project had an estimated budget of $1.2 million, which was funded through bonds approved in 2018.

During the celebration, city officials also celebrated the designation of a new sign indicating the Old Spanish Trail in Cibolo, which the City Council approved in July.

This designation has a sign marker located at the corner of Main Street and Pfeil Road.
