The new greens at Olympia Hills Golf Course and Event Center are now open, following a three month renovation to the course.

Universal City staff and officials celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony of the renovations on Sept. 12.

City Manager Kim Turner said this is one of many projects for the golf course, following interior renovations and drainage improvements approved in January.

“The old greens that we had were 24 years old, and they were at the end of their life,” Turner said.

Director of Golf Operations Sal Garcia said the new greens are made with a special type of grass called Paspalum that no other course in the area has.

Garcia and his team have worked on renovation projects throughout the year in an effort to revitalize the venue.
