A grand opening will be held Nov. 19 for 1902 Nightclub, the newest nightclub to open in the downtown San Antonio area.

The doors will open at 10 p.m. at the club, which will be located in the former Sunset Station train depot at 1174 E Commerce St.

Cover charge will be $15, and dress code will be strictly enforced, according to a news release. No jerseys, shorts, ball caps, beach wear or tennis shoes for men are permitted, club officials said. No sandals, flip-flops or semi-exposed clothing for women are allowed.

1902 Nightclub General Manager Victor Valenzuela said the location will complement the history of the surrounding train depot-turned-event venue, now renovated and called The Espee.

1902 Nightclub officials said the club’s aesthetics and service will feature modern amenities with historical flourishes that recall the early 20th century.

The former train station’s design is Spanish Mission Revival style, highlighted by unadorned stucco walls, an arcade and low-pitched clay tile roofing. It also contains a 16-foot window with a grand staircase and vaulted ceilings with light.

"1902 Nightclub is a labor of love for myself and our partners," Valenzuela said in the release. "Guests will experience a venue unlike any other when they arrive on Nov. 19. The atmosphere, drinks and service will rival any nightclub in any city around the world. ... We have meticulously preserved the history of the train depot, while pushing it forward. It's an honor to bring it back and welcome guests.”

1902 Nightclub can host private gatherings and special events, such as renowned DJ Steve Aoki performing Nov. 24.

The dress code will be enforced. Bottle service will be available, and reservations are accepted. For more information, visit www.1902satx.com.
