Originally opened in April 2020, Burn and Reconstructive Center is the only program in South Texas devoted to treating burn injuries for both pediatric and adult patients.
According to a news release, the Burn and Reconstructive Center provides advanced treatment for severe burns, wounds as well as specialized reconstructive surgery.
The center is designed to treat injuries caused by heat, chemicals, friction, electricity and radiation. The unit’s multidisciplinary care teams include surgeons, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, case managers, nutritionists and pharmacists. The center also offers follow-up care at the outpatient burn clinic.
