Methodist Hospital Stone Oak opened in 2009 as an 87-bed facility on a 40-acre plot at the corner of Sonterra and Hardy Oak boulevards. Methodist Healthcare leaders said the far north San Antonio hospital has expanded to accommodate the area’s population growth, as the facility now contains 245 beds, including a 42-bed acute care rehabilitation center.
Methodist Healthcare leaders described Methodist Hospital Stone Oak as a comprehensive facility, with a range of specialty services, an accredited Level III trauma center, and a designated Level III maternal and neonatal intensive care unit.
A closer look
According to Methodist Healthcare leaders, the health review website HealthGrades named Methodist Hospital Stone Oak one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals in 2023 and 2024, placing the facility in the top 5% of U.S. hospitals. The hospital has also undergone a number of expansions and renovations in recent years.
