A formerly vacant midcentury medical building at the edge of Alamo Heights has reopened as Next Level Urgent Care, one of two new centers the company has opened inside Loop 410 in San Antonio.

Located at 7407 Broadway St., the Alamo Heights building first opened in 1960 and quickly became a go-to location for medical care in the neighborhood, according to a Jan. 30 news release.

“We loved the character and charm of the building. It just fits in with the community,” said Amy Platt, Next Level Urgent Care community outreach coordinator.

The release said Next Level maintained several aspects of the building’s features, from its original brick-tile floor to a renowned red door handle accented with a caduceus and small ceramic tiles.

The building’s features compliment Next Level’s signature spa-like atmosphere, a unique amenity present in all locations, the release said.

“Everyone knows about that red handle. We have patients today who remember coming here as a child to see their pediatrician. Even though they were coming to see a physician at the time, they still have very fond memories of this building,” Platt said.

Next Level’s other new inner Loop 410 center is located at 223 E. Hildebrand Ave., just outside of Olmos Park city limits.

Next Level’s new Olmos Park-area center is also a short distance from Trinity University and the University of the Incarnate Word.

All seven San Antonio Next Level locations offer care for non life-threatening illnesses and injuries 9 a.m.-9 p.m daily.
