Founded in 1947, TSAOG Orthopaedics & Spine marked its 75th anniversary with an Oct. 26 celebration at the San Antonio medical group’s new Ridgewood Orthopaedic Center, 19138 US 281 N.

The celebration included an open house and tours as well as demonstrations of advanced robotic surgical technologies at TSAOG’s north San Antonio facility, the largest orthopedic ambulatory surgery center in Texas.

According to a news release, TSAOG was founded by Dr. John Hinchey, who served in World War II and grew his practice by partnering with several noted surgeons.

Today, TSAOG Orthopaedics & Spine employs more than 42 orthopedic specialists and over 100 providers who are trained to treat a full range of musculoskeletal disorders.

TSAOG Orthopaedics & Spine has eight clinics and two surgery centers in San Antonio and New Braunfels.

Having opened in 2021, the Ridgewood Orthopaedic Center features an educational operating room and state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging as well as innovations in physical rehabilitation equipment, the release said.

Usman Mirza, TSAOG Orthopaedics & Spine’s chief executive officer, said the practice’s 75th anniversary is a major milestone for the medical organization and for the San Antonio community.

“TSAOG is still driven by the entrepreneurial spirit of our founder. Over the last seven and a half decades we have continued Dr. Hinchey’s mission of providing top-notch orthopedic care, cutting-edge innovation and modern medical technology to South Texas,” Mirza said.

Dr. Sergio Viroslav, an orthopedic surgeon and managing partner of TSAOG Orthopaedics, said TSAOG has been providing the South Texas community with the best orthopedic care available.

“Our commitment is to continue to provide the best patient care for the next 75 years and beyond,” Viroslav said.
