What’s happening
“We are excited about this year’s lineup and action-packed rodeo and look forward to all our rodeo fans supporting our mission and coming to the event for a great time,” Chris Derby, the chief marketing officer for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, said in a news release.
The 18-day rodeo will take place between Feb. 12 and March 1 at 723 Frost Bank Center Drive.
“We’re grateful to our community, sponsors, partners, and more than 7,000 volunteers who help advance our mission to educate the youth of Texas,” Cody Davenport, the Executive Director and CEO of the rodeo, said in the release.
“For more than 76 years, our traditions have brought San Antonio together, showcasing a world-class rodeo, Agriculture Fair, and Livestock Show and we can’t wait to see you in February.”
The context
The San Antonio Rodeo is sanctioned by both the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, or PRCA, and the Women's Professional Rodeo Association, or WPRA.
According to the rodeo’s website, there are five separate brackets of riders competing in three rounds to kick off the event.
Next, top scores from each bracket move on to two separate semi-final rounds, while a bonus wild card round is held for scores that almost made the cut.
Finally, top scores from both semi-final rounds and the wild card round will return for the finals, which will be held on Feb. 28, according to the rodeo’s website.

Here’s a rundown of some of the live music scheduled for the rodeo. Concerts will be shown at both the Frost Bank Center and the fairgrounds throughout the rodeo’s 22 official events.
This list is not comprehensive, and events are subject to change.
