Major San Antonio events scheduled to take place over summer solstice weekend will include a pop culture convention with numerous celebrities, a daylong citywide celebration of local music, a program featuring amateur radio operators and a public NBA Draft watch party for San Antonio Spurs fans.

Superhero Comic Con

Superhero Comic Con will feature dozens of celebrities visiting with fans and signing autographs, including Chris Pine, Diego Luna, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Pom Klementieff, Tatiana Maslany, John Schneider, Brandon Routh, Peter Weller, Lea Thompson, Diane Guerrero, Sam Witwer and Caity Lotz. There will also be free play arcade gaming, and a cosplay competition.

Make Music Day

The San Antonio Department of Arts and Culture and Opera San Antonio will present Make Music Day, taking advantage of the summer solstice—the year’s longest day—to celebrate music by showcasing live performances with different kinds of musicians. More than 10 locations in San Antonio will have official Make Music Day events throughout the day, including Parman Library at Stone Oak, where apprentice artists from the Opera San Antonio will demonstrate how characters share their stories through music.Youth music program

San Antonio Radio Club will hold its annual Amateur Radio Field Day event in the Shavano Park City Hall parking lot. The 24-hour event has club members set up a field environment to simulate the operation of amateur radios under emergency conditions. La Cantera Resort and Spa will present Evenings at Topaz, a series of themed sunset poolside events benefiting local charities. The series will launch June 27 with a white party benefiting the San Antonio Humane Society, with music, small bites and summer-inspired cocktails. Charitable poker tournament

Colliers Engineering and Design will host the third annual Kevin Martin Memorial Poker Tournament in an effort to aid organizations that help individuals to overcome drug and alcohol addition. A portion of event proceeds will benefit Rise Recovery, and with the rest being donated to the Colliers Engineering & Design Foundation, which supports various area nonprofits.
