The overview

Online registration remains open for the 10th year of Claritycon, a two-day conference hosted by the Clarity Child Guidance Center for educators, social workers, counselors and others interested in or working in a mental health-related role, said Jessica Knudsen, president and CEO of Clarity Child Guidance Center.

Claritycon2023 will begin July 20 and continue through July 21 at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, 23808 Resort Parkway, San Antonio. Registration will open at 7 a.m. both days. The conference starts at 8 a.m. both days and ends at 5 p.m. July 20 and at 1 p.m. July 21, according to a news release.

The cost

Conference registration is $300 per person. It includes:

  • Twelve hours of professional development with presentations by more than 30 experts with topics including:
    • Human trafficking
    • Adolescent Sexuality in Age of Technology
    • Juvenile Justice System
    • Ethics
    • Eating Disorders and Diet Culture
    • School Refusal—“I’m Not Going!”
    • Domestic violence
    • Trauma-informed care
    • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Breakfast and lunch keynote addresses
  • Exhibitors offering mental health services and related programs, including community resources, therapy resources, and school and tutoring assistance

Tickets can also be purchased for $150 per person for the July 21 fundraising luncheon only, featuring a keynote address by author David Ambroz in the Grand Oaks Ballroom from noon to 1 p.m. His book, “A Place Called Home,” depicts his personal account of poverty and homelessness, according to a news release. A book signing by Ambroz will follow his remarks.



Ambroz:

  • Is head of External Affairs & Community Engagement at Amazon
  • Was named by President Barack Obama an American Champion of Change and a leading advocate for child welfare
  • Previously led Corporate Social Responsibility for Walt Disney Television

Proceeds will directly contribute to increasing the bed capacity at the Clarity Child Guidance Center. Register here; seating is limited.
