Residents in Hill Country Village, Hollywood Park and Shavano Park enjoyed some Halloween and fall-themed fun at special events held in October in their respective community.

The city of Shavano Park held its annual trunk-or-treat event Oct. 30 outside the City Hall complex.

Several local residents opened the back of their decorated vehicle up to trick-or-treaters. Those residents were joined by various city departments competing with each other for decorative honors.

The Hill Country Village Homeowners Association on Oct. 23 held the 19th Villagefest, an annual celebration for residents in the north central San Antonio suburb.

Villagefest activities at the City Hall campus included a potluck dinner, live music and an autumn-themed photo area.

Hill Country Village HOA Secretary Barbara Durand-Hollis said Villagefest is the association’s annual signature event for her community.

The Hollywood Park Community Association invited local residents to a Halloween carnival at Memorial Park on Oct. 22.

Costumed children enjoyed trick-or-treating, a cake walk, inflatables and games. Additionally, the HPCA organized a family-friendly haunted hayride Oct. 30 at Voigt Park.

Residents in Hill Country Village, Hollywood Park and Shavano Park are invited to holiday events scheduled in their respective town through December.

Such activities include a Dec. 3 holiday event for Shavano Park residents at City Hall, and Hollywood Park Fire Department invites local residents to greet Santa Claus as he parades around city streets Dec. 17.

The HPCA has other events lined up this fall, including an artisan market from 3:30-6 p.m. Nov. 13 at Voigt Center, 701 El Portal Drive.

Vendor table spots are available for $10 each until Nov. 9. Vendors interested in participating at the market may call 713-824-3759 for details.

The HPCA plans to invite Hollywood Park residents to enjoy cookies and crafts with Santa Claus on Dec. 2; the community association is also organizing Hollywood Park’s holiday home decorating contest.
