With all precincts reporting in Bexar County, according to unofficial results, District 8 and District 9 San Antonio City Council seats are slated to head to a runoff election. Candidate Marc Whyte secured the win for District 10 race.

Ivalis Meza Gonzalez pulled ahead of the other five candidates in the race for District 8 with 4,968 votes, or 40.33%, followed by Paula McGee receiving 2,737, or 22.22% of the votes.

In District 9, Misty Spears led the race against six other candidates with 6,239 votes, or 38.01%, closely followed by Angi Taylor Aramburu who secured 5,838votes, or 35.57%.


Since no candidate received over 50% of the vote, Gonzalez and McGee will face off again in a runoff election for District 8, and Spears and Aramburu will head to a runoff election in District 9. The runoff election will take place on June 7, where voters will also find the San Antonio Mayoral race between candidates Gina Ortiz Jones and Rolando Pablos on the ballot.

Whyte secured the majority vote in the District 10 race and pulled ahead of the four other candidates by receiving 8,552 votes, or 69.13%.

Early voting results in the May 3 election shows Ivalis Meza Gonzalez, Angi Taylor Aramburu and Marc Whyte leading in the races for San Antonio City Council Districts 8, 9 and 10, respectively.


District 8

Gonzalez currently leads with 3,724 votes, or 43.29% of the vote, with Paula McGee in second place with 1,876 votes, or 21.81%. Sakib Shaikh is in third place with 1,797 votes, or 20.89%, followed by Cesario Garcia with 684 votes, or 7.95%, Cindy Onyekwelu with 289 votes, or 3.36%, and Rodney Kidd with 232 votes, or 2.70%.

The City of San Antonio District 8 stretches from Callaghan Road to Ralph Fair Road.

District 9


Aramburu currently leads with 4,448 votes, or 38.02%, with Misty Spears in second place with 4,379 votes, or 37.43%. April Chang is in third place with 1,020 votes, or 8.72%, followed by Daniel Mezza with 951 votes, or 8.13%, Tristen Hoffman with 186 votes, or 1.59%, and Celeste N. Tidwell with 154 votes, or 1.32%.

The City of San Antonio District 9 stretches from Broadway to Borgfield Road West.

District 10

Incumbent Whyte currently leads with 5,880 votes, or 69.85%, with Roy Anthony II in second place with 997 votes, or 11.84%, followed by Eric Litaker with 723 votes, or 8.59%.


The City of San Antonio District 10 stretches from Harry Wurzbach Road to Bulverde Road.

What else?

This will be the first time candidates will serve a four year term, since voters approved the charter amendments on Nov. 5.
