According to district documents, NISD will offer 32 summer school programs, ranging from kindergarten-fifth grade programs to adult and community education courses.The details
Elementary programs will support identified kindergarten-fifth grade students in reading and math remediation. Students at Tier 3 in MTSS and 1-5 emergent bilingual students who scored at the beginner level on the TELPAs Composite Score from the 2023-24 school year are eligible to attend these programs.
Classes will be held from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. June 3-26, with June 19 as a student and staff holiday. Transportation will be provided for students residing over 2 miles from their regular campus, and will be provided to students from feeder campuses to cluster campuses. Meals will be provided through NISD Child Nutrition for all qualifying campuses.
Middle school programs from sixth-eighth grade are focused on students who have failed multiple core academic courses. Students who have failed two to four core academic courses are eligible for the program.
Classes will be held from 8:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 3-18. Transportation will be provided for students residing over 2 miles from their regular campus, and will be provided to students from feeder campuses to their designated campus site. Breakfast and lunch will be served at all campuses. Meals will be provided at no cost to students.
The high school credit attainment program is a supplemental online program for students to attain previously failed credits due to a failing final grade and/or if they did not meet attendance parameters, or for students who are over-age, under-credited and require courses for graduation. At-risk students who have failed one or more courses are eligible for the program.
Classes will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 3-July 3. Transportation will be provided for students enrolled in the program. Routes will run to and from elementary feed campuses to the high school.
Students completing their courses in the morning will be able to ride the bus from the high school to the feeder elementary school. Students who stay for both morning and afternoon sessions will be able to ride the bus to the feeder elementary school. Students who only attend the afternoon classes will need transportation to the campus, but can ride the bus to the feeder elementary school after class.
Transportation will not be provided for students outside of NISD. Students are able to eat breakfast and lunch at NISD feeding sites.
