The Clark High School girls basketball team won the University Interscholastic League Class 6A state title March 4, beating DeSoto, 42-37, at the Alamodome.
Clark (34-3), which lost their 2022 state semifinal to DeSoto last year, is only the second San Antonio squad to win a state girls basketball championship following Judson High School’s state title-clinching victory in 2019.
Clark junior center Arianna Roberson was named the game’s Most Valuable Player with 24 points, 15 rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
The Cougars earned a spot in the 6A state championship match by beating Coppell, 49-48, in a March 3 state semifinal at the Alamodome.
The District 28-6A champion Cougars clinched their second straight Class 6A Region IV title Feb. 25 with a 57-38 win over Brennan at the Northside Sports Gym.
