The girls’ basketball squad from Clark High School will play defending Class 6A state champion DeSoto High School in a University Interscholastic League state semifinal March 4.

The match, scheduled to tip off at 8:30 p.m. at San Antonio’s Alamodome, 100 Montana St., will be the Clark girls’ debut appearance in the state basketball tournament, the UIL said.

The Clark Cougars advanced to the state semifinal after beating Steele High School, 52-49, to win the Region IV-6A title on Feb. 26 at the Northside Sports Gym.

The DeSoto Eagles beat the Duncanville High School Pantherettes, 60-47, on Feb. 26 to advance to the state tournament for a third time in four years, according to the UIL.

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 6A poll had DeSoto finishing the regular season as the No. 1 team in the state and Clark ending its regular season ranked No. 3.

The second 6A semifinal game at the Alamodome will involve Summer Creek High School and South Grand Prairie High School at 7 p.m. March 4.

The winners of the 6A semifinal games will meet in the Class 6A state championship final at 8:30 p.m. March 5 at the Alamodome.

According to Northside ISD, game tickets are available to buy online at https://am.ticketmaster.com/cityofsanantonio/buy# or at the Alamodome box office. Session tickets are good for two games.

NISD said parking prices at the Alamodome will be $15 per car; only credit cards will be allowed.
