Two north central San Antonio restaurants—a Stone Oak steakhouse and an Encino Park-area Mexican eatery—recently closed.

Ace of Steaks

Ace of Steaks, which opened in February 2023 in Stone Oak, recently closed, according to its Google page. Community Impact’s attempts to contact the owners went unanswered, and the all social media pages for Ace of Steaks have been deactivated.

Retail veteran Skylar Moon and Realtor Michael Llanas, owners of their first culinary venture, promoted Ace of Steaks as a steakhouse with a nightclub vibe with music, a happy hour and dress code. Their menu featured a 44-ounce, $1,000 Tomahawk steak served on a gold plate.

Tlahco Mexican Kitchen

Tlahco Mexican Kitchen, which opened near the Encino Park neighborhood in 2021, closed in December.

Chef/owner Julio Garcia posted on the restaurant’s business page Dec. 20, saying he and his family decided to permanently shutter the far north side location.

Garcia thanked his restaurant staff and their supporters in the community. Garcia also said the original Tlahco Mexican Kitchen at 6702 San Pedro Ave. will remain open.

“Please support local restaurants and businesses, and be kind,” Garcia added in his post.
