Little Italy Restaurant and Pizzeria is celebrating its 40th anniversary with festivities April 15 including commemorative Fiesta medals, wine glasses and beer pint glasses while supplies last during business hours.

Restaurant representatives said Little Italy will also offer customers a complimentary slice of cake April 15 to mark their anniversary. The eatery is open noon to 10 p.m. Saturdays.

Little Italy is owned by the Visocaro family, who originally immigrated from Palermo, the capital of the Italian island of Sicily, to New York City in 1969. There they opened a pizzeria, Paola’s Pizza Restaurant.

After 12 years, the Visocaros moved to San Antonio and opted to open Little Italy Restaurant in 1983. The Visocaros have since offered local diners traditional, homemade Italian dishes originating from Southern Italy, restaurant representatives said.
