Arenas Marisqueria and Lounge, a Latin-inspired seafood restaurant, is set to open in November at 19903 Stone Oak Parkway, Ste. 202, in Stone Oak.

According to a news release, Arenas will be co-owned by Luis Vasquez and his family, who collectively have more than 30 years experience in the restaurant industry. They also own Sabor Cocina Mexicana in northwest San Antonio.

Longtime friend and business associate Issac Soto and family of the renowned Moonlight Ballroom event space are partnering with the Vazquez family to launch Arenas.

Vasquez said Arenas will feature family recipes that provide varied takes on classic Latin dishes.

“We want to evoke the sense of being at a classier resort-style restaurant in Cancun or Cabo, but ultimately, we want to be authentic to ourselves and create our own favorite restaurant ... a place we would like to go to enjoy a cocktail and some good food, and we hope San Antonio feels the same way,” Vazquez said in a statement.

Vasquez said Arenas will convey a fun, sophisticated atmosphere accentuated with a menu containing scratch-made dishes, such as Mojarra Chicharron and Camarones Mojo de Ajo, designed by Executive Chef Luis Vazquez Sr. Every meal will start with a signature soup, Levanta Muertos, a more traditional Mexican starter.

"We've been wanting to do a seafood restaurant for a really long time. We love seafood, and my dad makes a great ceviche. Everything, honestly, is so delicious. The shrimp enchiladas are my brother-in-law's favorite," Vasquez said.

The Vazquez family also seeks to differentiate Arenas from other Latin seafood eateries with the focus on craft cocktails, including La Emperadora (Empress Gin, Saint Germain, peach liqueur, sour mix) and El Cantarito (passionfruit syrup, orange juice, sweet and sour, cointreau, tequila).

"Our cocktail menu will be one of the big centerpieces of Arenas. Some of our cocktails are pretty unique," Vasquez said.
