The first San Antonio franchise of Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop, a Southern chain of bakeries, held a soft opening Sept. 22 at The Shops at Redland Road, 2907 N. Loop 1604 E., Ste. 201.
The San Antonio Buttermilk Sky offers a wide variety of 9-inch and 4-inch pies and mini pie packs in daily and seasonal flavors. Buttermilk Sky also offers cookies.
Buttermilk Sky has 19 locations in seven Southern states with a 20th storefront coming soon to Rockwall.
According to social media posts, the San Antonio store sold out of pies in its first three days of business.
San Antonio franchise owners Barry Crossland and Katie Cardwell Crossland said they are also participating in the company's Pie It Forward program, which donates proceeds from the Flavor of the Month to a select charity.
The Crosslands said they plan to have a grand opening for their new shop during the Halloween weekend.
