Texas-based nonprofit Forefront Living on July 7 announced plans to develop Bella Vida at La Cantera, an independent living community for senior citizens.
According to a news release, Bella Vida at La Cantera will be built across 21 acres north of Loop 1604 off I-10 in North San Antonio, near the Eilan Hotel and Spa and La Cantera Resort and Spa.
Once complete in 2026, Bella Vida will consist of 153 independent living apartment homes and 40 villas with attached garages, with floor plans ranging from 820 to 2,550 square feet.
The release states the community will have various amenities including a salon, spa, fitness center, sports courts, casual fine dining, an indoor swimming pool, a walking trail and wellness programming.
Forefront Living CEO Tim Mallad said Bella Vida at La Cantera will be designed to offer an innovative approach to senior living with flexible and customizable service delivery and resort-level amenities.
“We plan to create a community where residents can thrive. Not only will the community be beautiful, but it will be filled with the amenities that make it easy to live an active and engaging lifestyle,” Mallad said in a statement.
Forefront Living representatives said they will offer a flexible service program that allows residents to customize their service package based on their preferences and lifestyle.
Opportunities for seniors to learn more about the community will be offered in the coming weeks, providing preconstruction benefits to those who express an early interest, the release states.
Bella Vida is launching a priority program available at www.bellavidasa.org or by calling 210-660-5558, with membership open to a limited number of seniors.
Mallad said maintaining an independent living lifestyle means many things to today’s seniors, including maintaining fitness and wellness, creating social ties, and traveling without worrying about property maintenance.
Mallad said Bella Vida at La Cantera will address such as issues through a wellness concierge service. The planned community will also feature a memory support neighborhood for residents who would benefit from a more secure and programmed setting, the release states.
Mallad said Bella Vida at La Cantera is being designed to provide a continuity of support.
“Today’s seniors want a self-directed life, and Forefront Living wants to honor their preferences at every stage. Bella Vida at La Cantera will provide a beautiful life for San Antonians who have worked hard and deserve this lifestyle,” Mallad added.
