Thrive Pet Healthcare, formerly Emergency Pet Clinic, recently opened the doors to a new emergency pet health clinic on San Antonio’s North Side.

The background

According to a news release, Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists San Antonio expanded their local services and moved to a new, larger facility from 8503 Broadway St. to 2426 Ceegee St.

Representatives for Thrive said new location near the San Antonio International Airport is four times larger than the previous hospital, with 30,000 square feet and 21 exam rooms and wheelchair accessibility, allowing more pets and family members.

The release states that regular customers familiar with the services they had received at the old location need not travel far to find the new clinic.

Representatives for Thrive said that, like the old location, staff at the new clinic continues to provide emergency and critical care 24 hours a day without need of referral for all dog, cat, reptile, pocket pet and avian emergencies.

The release states that weekday specialty appointments are available by referral from a pet owner's primary care veterinarian.

What they’re saying

Michelle Crothers, practice manager for Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists San Antonio, said the new Thrive location offers comprehensive pet medical care under one roof, eliminating the need for customers to go long distances for specialized veterinary services.

“This is a game-changer for San Antonio pet owners who can now access emergency and specialty care in one convenient location,” Crothers said in a statement.

Dr. Leslie Bauer, medical director at Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists San Antonio, said she and her colleagues have been a mainstay in North San Antonio, offering around-the-clock emergency veterinary care for more than 30 years.

“We are proud to be able to continue to lead the way in advancing veterinary medicine by adding specialty care to our services,” Bauer said in a statement.
