North central San Antonio-area residents will see a new pizzeria in Stone Oak, a new mattress store near Hollywood Park, and an expansion of a popular local outdoor bar, among other commercial ventures this year.

Verlo Mattress, an Illinois-based company, plans to open its first San Antonio franchise at the Arbor Park shopping center near Hollywood Park. The local showroom will have employees—dubbed “comfort coaches" by company officials—who will help each patron with mattress comfortability issues.The Learning Experience will open soon on Bulverde Road. Development of Elsewhere Too, a North Side spinoff of the downtown-based Elsewhere Garden Bar and Kitchen, recently began near Shavano Park. Following up on previous announcements by Elsewhere’s owners, a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing stated that a $4 million construction project started in early January at a vacant tract just west of Discount Tire and Mission Ridge Range and Academy. Elsewhere offers a full bar, pub grub and indoor and outdoor seating. Construction is due to end in October.Round Table Pizza will open a second San Antonio-area outpost near the Stone Oak neighborhood. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, Round Table began a $400,000 project in August to build a new 2,400-square-foot space.BCS Flooring, based in College Station, will expand to San Antonio with a 2,515-square-foot store at Ventura Plaza retail center between Hollywood Park and Stone Oak. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, a $220,000 renovation of an existing commercial space began in early December and is slated for completion in early March.
