Lori Castillo, vice-president of marketing at North San Antonio-based firm NatureSweet, was chosen as board chair of the statewide nonprofit Texas Public Radio.

A Jan. 30 news release said Castillo, a San Antonio native, oversees global marketing for NatureSweet, a produce company that provides greenhouse-grown vegetables to major supermarket retailers throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Prior to joining the company in 2014, Castillo worked for Proctor and Gamble where she helped build CoverGirl Cosmetics into a $1 billion brand, the release said, adding that Castillo was also a finance specialist at JPMorgan Chase for six years.

Castillo has served the South Texas community as a foundation board member for Texas A&M University-San Antonio, a board member for the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the 42nd class of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership San Antonio program.

Castillo also serves on the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo’s committee for Western Heritage Weekend, an event that celebrates the historic roots of Texas, the release said.



Castillo earned her master’s degree in business administration from Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University, and her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University.

Castillo earned an honor of 2016 Groundbreaking Associate of the Year at NatureSweet, and in 2021, she was the first Latina to receive the the Ohio State Alumni of Color Legacy Award.

Based in downtown San Antonio, TPR operates seven noncommercial radio stations that broadcast throughout Texas.
