The elementary school—which spans over 103,000 square feet of building space—was completed on time and within budget, Chief Operations Officer Mark Stahl said. It serves 850 students and has over 16,000 square feet of outdoor play area.
“[Mayfair Elementary School] is a result of years of vision, planning and collaboration,” Stahl said.
Two-minute impact
The elementary school is located within the Mayfair development—a 1,900-acre master-planned community—and is funded by Proposition A from the district’s voter-approved November 2023 bond, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.
Proposition A allocates $560.6 million for the construction of three new elementary schools to provide capacity relief to Bill Brown, Johnson Ranch, Oak Creek and Freiheit elementary schools. The proposition also funds the construction of a new middle school, which will provide capacity relief to Canyon Middle School, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Did you know?
The conceptual design of the school was inspired by water—a natural resource vehemently woven into the identity of New Braunfels, Stahl said.
“This connection influenced the design direction, resulting in blue hues throughout the building,” Stahl said.
Notable quote
Mayfair Elementary School Principal Nicole Gonzales said it was truly an exciting time to be a Mountain Lion—which is the school's mascot.
“Here, at Mayfair Elementary, we will work together to ensure that all of our Mountain Lions are equipped with the tools necessary to make a positive impact on society,” Gonzales said.
