Diaz—who will assume his new role in July—is replacing Orphalinda Bazan. Bazan announced her retirement earlier this year, according to a news release.
Some details
Diaz has served as the assistant principal at the campus since 2023. He also served as a bilingual summer school principal for NBISD. He also has a strong background in bilingual education, which is beneficial to his role at Carl Schurz—one of NBISD’s dual-language campuses, the release states.
Diaz said he is honored and humbled to continue serving the Carl Schurz community.
“I look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure every child thrives—because we are better together,” Diaz said in the release.
Notable quote
Superintendent Laurelyn Arterbury said they are excited to have Diaz as the new principal.
“His strong relationships with the staff, students and parents are invaluable to NBISD, and we are confident that under his leadership CSE will flourish,” Arterbury said in the release.
