Renovations to The Faust Hotel—located in downtown New Braunfels at 240 S. Seguin Ave.—are nearing completion.

Project overview

The boutique hotel, which closed for renovations in November 2023, will now have 45 guest rooms instead of 63. The decrease in rooms is the result of increasing the room sizes between 100 square feet and 125 square feet, Molly Egan, the hotel's director of sales, said. Each room will be furnished with king beds and fully renovated bathrooms in each unit.

The hotel's ballroom will have space for up to 110 guests. The Faust Hotel will feature a bar and patio and also offer valet parking.

The big picture

The New Braunfels Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking to create a Tourism Public Improvement District, or TPID, to generate supplemental funding for tourism marketing to increase hotel business, as previously reported by Community Impact.

The bureau is working to draft a final plan to present to City Council in Q4 of 2025, and The Faust Hotel has agreed to participate in the TPID, Tanya Pence, president of the New Braunfels Convention and Visitors Bureau, told Community Impact.

Mayor Neal Linnartz said tourism helps small business owners.

"It brings tax dollars into our communities and it helps pay the wages of the people that live here," Linnartz said.

The city's hospitality industry is responsible for more than $381.8 million in wages and accounts for 31.4% of employment in the city, according to a news release. In the bureau's latest economic impact study, the hospitality industry added an average of $1.3 billion to the local economy from 2022-2024.

Quote of note

Pence said it takes a village to make New Braunfels the city that it is.

"When you build a place people want to visit, you build a place people want to live," Pence said. "And when you build a place people want to live, you build a place people want to work and when you have a place people want to work, you have a place businesses want to be. And that then, creates a place people want to visit."

Looking ahead

The Faust Hotel is expected to reopen in the spring of 2026, hotelier Andy Duettra said.
