Claudia Sandoval opened The Point Acupuncture and Dry Needling Clinic in late 2018 with one goal—to provide pain relief.

The clinic, located at 1423 N. Walnut Ave., Ste. 101, specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction and chronic pain treatment.

The specifics

Pelvic floor dysfunction is when there is an imbalance, such as muscle tightness, weakness or poor coordination, with the pelvic floor muscles. According to The Point’s website, common symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction are:
  • Difficulty with bowel movements
  • Frequent urination or discomfort
  • A sensation of pressure or heaviness in the pelvic or rectal area
  • Lower back, abdominal or tailbone pain
  • Discomfort during or after intimacy
  • Testicular groin or generalized pelvic pain
  • Pain with ejaculation or post-ejaculatory discomfort
“We can actually influence the way the muscles function to get you pain relief,” Sandoval said.

The Point also offers sound therapy with its Zencora™ Sonic Immersion Lounge—which is a vibroacoustic sound bed that combines sound, vibration and light to guide the body into relaxation through precision-calibrated frequencies. These frequencies are designed to harmonize an individual’s neural patterns, according to The Point’s website.

“We’re big proponents of trying to regulate the body and trying to regulate the nervous system,” Sandoval said.

Sandoval is interested in opening a subscription-based sound bed lab, which would have 4-6 sound beds in one room.

What’s special about it?

The Point is the only area clinic contracted to provide acupuncture services for veterans through the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. The contract is through the VA’s community care network, which helps offer veterans quality care outside the department, according to the VA’s website.

Sandoval said the business gets a lot of good reviews from veterans who visit the clinic from Cibolo, Schertz, Austin, Seguin and New Braunfels.
