Leaders from The University of Texas System, UT Health San Antonio and The University of Texas at San Antonio gathered March 18 to hail the opening of a new medical facility designed to serve a growing population in northwest Bexar County.

What happened

The gathered attendees were joined by representatives from the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, elected officials and community supporters to celebrate the grand opening of the UT Health Outpatient and Surgery Center at Kyle Seale Parkway.

According to a news release, the grand opening event marked the completion of a five-story, 108,000-square-foot community medical facility, located near the southeast corner of Loop 1604 and Kyle Seale Parkway.

UT Health San Antonio officials said the new northwest San Antonio facility includes primary care, gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, rehabilitation medicine, physical therapy, pathology, radiology, urology and outpatient surgery. Patients will also have access to diagnostic laboratory testing and various imaging services.


A closer look

UT Health at Kyle Seale Parkway also features an ambulatory surgery center with four operating suites, and 16 preoperation and recovery rooms. The facility, which has space for future expansion, will have an estimated total economic impact of $42.4 million yearly and will support 130 jobs, the release states.

Attendees of the March 18 gathering said the area along Loop 1604 in northwest Bexar County is experiencing growth, and UT Health at Kyle Seale Parkway was built to meet the current and future health care needs of the area’s expanding population.

“We are proud to expand our footprint in Bexar County with the opening of UT Health at Kyle Seale Parkway,” said Dr. Robert Hromas, acting president for UT Health San Antonio, in a statement. “This facility is a testament to our commitment of enhancing access to high-quality health care services while fostering healthy communities.”
