An annual celebration of anime and pop culture and a multiday art show are among the major events happening in San Antonio over Labor Day weekend.

Single Professionals Network, a friendship group for singles age 55 and older, meets for conversation, libations, games and food.

Sept. 1-3

San Japan 14 will feature artists, vendors, celebrities, authors and musicians focused on anime and manga. There will be photo opportunities, panel discussions, cosplay, readings and musical performances, as well as gaming and other activities.

The Labor Day River Walk Artisan Show will feature more than 40 handmade artisan booths with pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings, beadwork, and more along the River Walk in downtown San Antonio.

Briscoe Western Art Museum will have “Full STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) Ahead," an education program with hands-on fun activities for the family. Attendees get to learn about the American West in unique ways.

Sept. 4

Risas Dental and Braces will offer free dental care as part of its 12th annual Labor of Love event. New and current patients are welcome to choose from one of the four following free treatments: a basic cleaning, filling, simple extraction, or exam and X-ray at any participating Risas Dental location. Dentists will also offer free orthodontic consultations for anyone interested in braces or clear aligners. There will also be music and refreshments.

Sept. 5

San Antonio District 8 City Council Member Manny Pelaez will offer constituents a chance to enjoy a free breakfast and ask questions or bring issues to him and his staff. RSVP is encouraged.
