North San Antonio officials celebrate opening of largest WellMed clinic

Officials with WellMed and the North San Antonio Chamber celebrated the grand opening of WellMed at Stone Oak with a ribbon-cutting and open house Oct. 18.

WellMed is a San Antonio-based chain of medical clinics that cater to older adults by providing “extra support for those with multiple chronic conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease,” according to WellMed’s website.

WellMed provides care for more than 1 million older adults through its network of doctors, specialists and other medical professionals at more than 16,000 doctors’ offices and clinics in Texas and Florida.

The specifics

The new clinic is the largest in the chain and boasts slip-resistant flooring, low-glare lighting, wider hallways to accommodate wheelchairs and exam tables that lower almost to the floor for easier accessibility, WellMed spokesperson Dan Calderon said.

The clinic also includes 30 exam rooms and a podiatry workroom as well as in-house lab work and X-rays for patients.
