Stone Oak movie theater to screen docuseries on endangered wildlife, state parks

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Stone Oak at 22806 N. US 281 will host an Aug. 28 screening of a docuseries of five short films commissioned by H-E-B’s Our Texas, Our Future program.

According to a news release, H-E-B teamed up with Austin-based Fin and Fur Films to release a series of documentary films that highlight stories of Texans and organizations conserving wildlife habitats, landscapes, and parks across the state.

Leslie Sweet, H-E-B’s managing director of sustainability and environmental affairs, said the grocer’s leaders are committed to helping to protect, conserve and beautify Texas landscapes for all people to enjoy now and for generations to come.

“We’re excited to support these passionate filmmakers and their mission to tell important stories that we hope will inspire people to celebrate and protect the diverse habitats, unique wildlife, and beautiful landscapes across Texas,” Sweet said in a statement.

The five films, which are available to view at www.ourtexasourfuture.com, will look at the creation and diversity of the Texas State Parks system as well as telling stories from Texans working to preserve habitats for bats, black bears, ocelots and redfish.

The Aug. 28 screening at Alamo Drafthouse Stone Oak will begin at 7:15 p.m. and is free with the purchase of a $5 food and beverage voucher, which can be redeemed for snacks and nonalcoholic drinks at the show.
