Q&A: Meet the candidates for Fair Oaks Ranch City Council, Place 3

In the May 3 election for Fair Oaks Ranch City Council, Place 3, incumbent Ruben J. Olvera will run against Scott Andrew Rose.

Ahead of the election, Community Impact reached out to learn more about each candidate.

Why are you running for city council?

I have served on Council a little over a year after winning the Special Election in December 2023. While I believe I have made significant contributions, I also feel like I’m just getting started in this role, and I would love the opportunity to continue to serve our City.

What are the biggest challenges Fair Oaks Ranch is facing?

Some of the biggest challenges include responsibly managing growth in our City and its effect on our infrastructure (roads, water, and sewer), traffic, and public safety. That growth could also affect the quiet, semi-rural feel of the City, which is one of the main reasons many of us moved here.

How do you plan on addressing those challenges?

We can address these challenges with strict adherence to the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code, continuing to support our Police Department, and proactively planning/budgeting for future infrastructure projects before major problems arise.

What is something you would like Fair Oaks Ranch residents to know about you?

I am a husband to a Boerne ISD teacher and father to two Boerne ISD students. They are my biggest motivation as to why I want to serve. I want to ensure our community maintains its character and stays one of the safest cities to live and raise a family.
