Bexar County Commissioner Moody announces re-election campaign

Bexar County Precinct 3 Commissioner Grant Moody on July 13 announced he would be launching a campaign to secure a full four-year term in the November 2024 general elections.

A Republican, Moody won the Precint 3 seat in a November 2022 special election to fill the term vacated by Republican Trish DeBerry when she resigned from Commissioners Court to seek the Bexar County judge post, a campaign that ended with DeBerry losing to Democrat Peter Sakai in the November 2022 elections.

According to a news release, Moody, who currently represents much of the north central and northeast parts of Bexar County, has raised more than $220,000 in campaign funds during the six months of 2023.

Moody said he hopes to continue serving the Bexar County residents with a collaborative approach with different stakeholders, and a focus on fostering economic growth and providing quality public services.

Moody said he has so far advocated for property tax reductions, improved public safety and economic development during his time in office.

Moody said he plans to run in the Republican Party primary March 5, 2024, to secure the party’s nomination as a Precint 3 candidate ahead of the Nov. 5, 2024, general election.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as your county commissioner for Precinct 3, and I am excited to announce my re-election campaign,” Moody said in a statement. “Together, we have accomplished great things, but there is still work to be done. I am committed to serving Bexar County with dedication and integrity, and I humbly ask for your support as we continue to move forward.”
