Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD trustees Feb. 19 voted to limit trustee Matthew Short’s access to funds and district facilities.
This action follows a Jan. 22 action from Judson ISD trustees to propose the termination of Short’s position as a teacher.
The overview
During the SCUCISD meeting, board president Letticia Sever said she and Bill Paschal met with Short to discuss the negative attention around the Judson ISD employment dispute and the challenges it was creating for the board and the district.
“We expressed our own concerns that this dispute will spill over to our district, impacting the board and district’s standing and reputation in our community,” she said.
Sever said she asked Short to resign, and Short sent her an email Feb. 5 with the intention of continuing to serve on the board.
In a 6-1 vote—with Short opposed—trustees approved a motion limiting Short’s access to district facilities and properties other than scheduled meetings posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.
The motion also prevents Short from accessing district funds outside of his statutory board duties. This action remains in effect until further action by the board.
