Report shows SCUCISD students outperforming state on 2024 STAAR

In the 2020-21 report, 28.3% of SCUCISD students were economically disadvantaged. According to the 2023-24 report, the percentage of economically disadvantaged students has risen to 37.5%, marking a 32.5% increase.

Similarly, the percentage of students classified as “at-risk,” which is defined as students likely to fail academically or drop out, grew from 32% in 2020-21 to 36.8% in 2023-24.

Breaking it down

Out of the 15,129 students in SCUCISD, 52% are meeting grade level, according to the 2023-24 report.

SCUCISD outperformed the state in reading, math, science and social studies on the 2024 STAAR exams.

SCUCISD students are also outperforming the state in mastery of science and social studies, according to the 2023-24 report. However, the percentage of SCUCISD students mastering all subjects has decreased from 2021.

The SCUCISD board of trustees meets every third Thursday at 6 p.m. Due to spring break, the next meeting will be held March 27.
