The national smoothie chain Smoothie King has expanded its New Braunfels footprint with a second location on South Walnut Avenue.

The New Braunfels franchise is locally owned by Paul Flores and serves a variety of smoothie blends and bowls featuring different flavor options as well as nutritional enhancers, including protein, fiber and collagen.

What residents should know
Swig, a specialty soda shop, opened a new location Dec. 29 at 7038 N. Loop 1604 E., next to the Slim Chickens restaurant, according to the shop's website. Swig is also planning to open another new location in North San Antonio at 3639 E. Evans Road, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.

Smoothie King is now open at the retail hub, joining a location of Panera Bread that opened Oct. 20. The national smoothie chain is owned locally by mother-son duo Delia Gaona and Isaiah Miguel Gaona.
Aside from its many smoothie options, Smoothie King sells food items like smoothie bowls and loaded toast.
A local bar, grill and live music venue that recently closed in New Braunfels is planning to make a comeback early next year.
What’s happening
The Weighted Plate will be reopening at a new location at 118 S. Union Ave., in downtown New Braunfels, in early 2026, according to a Facebook post by owner Cody Teer.
The business had closed its previous location on FM 1102 in November due to the reduced ability for customers to access the venue, as previously reported by Community Impact.
