A drive-thru coffee shop, a restaurant/wine bar and an Austin-based comfort food cafe are among a handful of businesses to recently open in San Antonio.
The Human Bean, an Oregon-based chain of drive-thru coffee shops, opened a location at 25510 Bulverde Road in mid-August. The Human Bean offers a variety of traditional and specialty coffee drinks, espressos, smoothies and other non-coffee beverages. The Human Bean has multiple drive-thru storefronts in the western United States, but company officials said the chain is undergoing eastward expansion. Kerbey Lane Cafe, an Austin-based scratch kitchen/comfort food cafe, opened its first San Antonio location at 5515 N. Loop 1604 W., Ste. 103, on Aug. 15. According to a company press release, the new Kerbey Lane Cafe is in a soft opening phase, with employees undergoing training while serving diners from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. daily.
The release said patrons who visit the cafe now through Aug. 28 will be treated to a 50% off special for all food and nonalcoholic beverages. However, the menu is limited, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis during the soft opening phase, the release said.
