Second public hearing for the rezoning of Cibolo Main Street properties to be held May 23

The rezoning of 12 properties along Cibolo Main Street—across from the new H-E-B—has been an ongoing discussion item for City Council as well as the planning and zoning commission.

The applicants are looking to rezone from single family to neighborhood commercial, which allows for neighborhood storefront retail, service, financial and office activities that are compatible and designed in scale with surrounding residential areas, according to the city Code of Ordinances.

City Council on May 23 will hold the second public hearing on the item, allowing residents to voice their concerns, opinions or support on the rezoning.

This public hearing is following the public hearing and discussion held by the planning and zoning commission on May 10.

During the planning and zoning commission meeting, a recommendation to deny the rezoning was made. With this recommendation, council will make the final decision on the rezoning.

According to the agenda item, the final decision from council is expected to be during the meeting on June 13. The May 23 meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
