Hollywood Park, Hill Country Village to recognize permitted golf carts

Officials from neighboring cities Hollywood Park and Hill Country Village plan to formally recognize permitted golf carts on public roads.

What happened?

Hollywood Park City Council voted June 20 to amend their code of ordinance to recognize golf cart permits issued by the city of Hill Country Village.

Police Chief Shad Prichard said some Hill Country Village residents drive their golf carts on city roads to visit Hollywood Park’s community facilities, such as Voigt Park. Prichard added he does not know many Hollywood Park residents who drive golf carts into Hill Country Village.

The overview

Prichard said the next time Hill Country Village City Council is scheduled to meet, in August, local officials there will likely consider changing their golf cart rules to mirror those in Hollywood Park in order to accommodate golf cart drivers from Hollywood Park.

Hollywood Park City Council Member Glenna Pearce said recognizing permitted golf carts will make things easy for residents in either city.

“We want to keep our registration process the same,” Pearce said.
