Chismosa’s Cantina closes in San Antonio

July 30 was the final day of operation for Chismosa’s Cantina y Comida Texicana at 14355 Blanco Road in San Antonio.

Owner Danielle Braman used social media July 25 to announce she was closing the North Side bar and grill due to ongoing health issues that surfaced in late 2022.

Chismosas opened in 2021 in the Churchill Estates neighborhood, featuring what the owner and customers described as a fun atmosphere with irreverent decor.

Chismosa's also offered food items, such as enchiladas, street tacos, and carne con mac, a spin on macaroni and cheese with carne guisada.

Chismosa’s also hosted open-mic comedy nights, private events, vendor markets and community fundraisers.

In the days leading up to Chismosa’s closure, Braman announced that various appliances and furniture at the bar were being made available for purchase.

However, Chimosa’s announced Aug. 1 that manager Shaunessi Battles would continue offering catering and bartending services.

Braman also said a new business is taking over the former Chismosa’s space, but no details have been released about the new occupant.
