Applications for the May 2 election are opening Jan. 14, allowing candidates to submit for a place on county and school board ballots.

What you need to know

For Boerne ISD, two board of trustee seats are up for election, including the Place 6 seat held by Kristi Schmidt and the Place 7 seat held by Rich Sena.

Potential Boerne ISD candidates must:
  • Be a United States citizen 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term
  • Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
  • Have not been finally convicted of a felony
  • Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the date of the application deadline

The city of Fair Oaks Ranch has two City Council seats on the May ballot, with races for Places 2 and 6, held by Keith Rhoden and Jonathan Swarek, respectively. Candidates vying for a place on the ballot must be residents of the city for at least one year. Additional information on Fair Oaks Ranch elections can be found here.


The city of Boerne will also have two City Council races on the May 2 ballot, including District 1, held by Ty Wolosin, and District 3, held by Kyle Mickelsen.

Boerne candidates must be at least 21 years old and must have lived in the community for at least a year. Boerne election information can be found here.

Looking ahead

The deadline to submit a candidate application is Feb. 13. The last day to register to vote in the election is April 2, and early voting will begin April 20.
