Local restaurant and brewery to open new pizza parlor in Boerne
28 Songs Brewhouse + Kitchen announced plans for a new eatery called Carmella's Pizza Parlor through a Facebook post in late September.
What we know
The pizza parlor is a new neighborhood concept being developed by Don Kretz, the owner of 28 Songs Brewhouse + Kitchen and Chef Zachary Disch, founder of Z's Pizza, according to the post.
Carmella's Pizza Parlor will be located at 110 N. Market Ave. in Boerne—next to the craft brewery. The pizzeria will serve traditional, New York-style thin crust pizzas with house made ingredients.

New international market to set to open soon in Boerne
A South African-inspired meat market is on its way to Boerne, bringing flavors from across the globe to the area.
In case you missed it
Called Pioneers Meats, Co-owner Brett de Villiers said he expects it to open sometime at the end of October at 306 River Road.
It’s located where The Pearl Antler boutique once had a storefront before moving to Main Street.
Villiers said the business also has a brick-and-mortar in the Pipe Creek area at 10550 Hwy. 16, marking the shop's first expansion in the Hill Country.

McDonald’s opening new location near Fair Oaks Parkway
McDonald's plans to open a location near QuikTrip off I-10 and Fair Oaks Parkway.
The site will feature McDonald's and Club Carwash, with both facilities under construction.
Zooming in
This will be the second McDonald's location in the Fair Oaks Ranch area, with another location at 25200 I-10 Lot 2 in San Antonio.
While there is no confirmed opening date for the new store, site workers said the goal is to have the facility constructed and operational by the end of 2025 or early 2026.

259 Home Market closing doors after 13 years in Boerne
A local home decor shop is closing its doors after over a decade on the Hill Country Mile.
A closer look
259 Home Market, located at 259 S. Main St. in Boerne, is shutting its doors in the beginning of October, Owner Jordis Ernst told Community Impact.
The business first opened in the spring of 2012.
Ernst said that she plans to retire, and it will be too difficult to run the shop remotely.

A new retail development is under construction off Herff Road in Boerne, bringing in restaurants and an early childhood education facility.
The overview
The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce on June 12 celebrated the groundbreaking of the new development, which will feature two new restaurants, Meet Me Outside and 12 Herff Steakhouse.
Kiddie Academy is a tuition-based program for children between six weeks and twelve years of age.
According to the business website, tuition is based on the age of the child, the programs, location and the frequency of classes.

An eclectic local pizza joint in Boerne is currently expanding with plans to open a new bar and lounge later this year.
At a glance
Darkside Brick Oven Pizza Co. is in the process of constructing a new bar behind the restaurant at 25 Truss Drive in Boerne, just off of Hwy. 46.
Called Darkside After Dark, Owner Michael Hawes told Community Impact he expects it to open sometime in November.
The restaurant, known for its 70s and 80s themed decor and Star Wars memorabilia, will add to its diverse array of film tributes with this new Predator-themed bar.

First look: Check out Boerne’s newest sports card shop
A new sports card shop has just opened its doors in Boerne, filling a niche that Owner Jason Zamora said didn’t exist before in the area.
Long story short
After starting his first card collection at just seven years old, Zamora said that the hobby faded as life went on.
Then, decades later, his son got into Pokemon cards—and he was back into it.
“He started taking me to stores to get those cards, then I saw pretty much all of the brands that I used to collect back in the day,” Zamora said. “From there, I bought a pack, and it just never stopped.”

Pizza Volterra to offer authentic slices in Boerne
A new local pizza spot is on its way to Boerne’s Hill Country Mile.
What’s on the menu
Pizza Volterra is expected to dish out slices to the public on the weekend of Sept. 13, Owner Mike Zaroudny told Community Impact.
Food will be served food-truck style along Main Street in Boerne, allowing locals and tourists alike to get a taste of the new cuisine, Zaroudny said.
“We’re going to be cutting pizzas with scissors, just like in Italy,” Zaroudny said.

Honda dealership breaks ground in Boerne
A new Honda dealership is on its way to the Boerne area.
What you need to know
Pohanka Automotive Group broke ground at a new location at 31905 I-10 in Boerne on June 18.
It will be situated adjacent to the Nissan of Boerne dealer next to I-10.
Chief Marketing Officer Dani Hart said the dealership is expected to be completed by “mid-to-late summer” of 2026.
