From a new education and training center to medical office spaces, here are five developments being constructed in the Boerne area.
New Alamo Colleges District facility bringing job training, education programs to Boerne
The Northwest Education and Training Center is funded through 2017 bonds approved by Bexar County voters. Planned construction includes a 42,000-square-foot facility with 11 classrooms and around 12 areas for labs, according to information from the Alamo Colleges District.
Through business and community partnerships, the NWTC will serve as a resource for the local community by offering general business and leadership services for local employers, according to its website.
Academic and workforce offerings include:
- Adult basic education and literacy
- Continuing education offerings
- Training programs for industry
- Recognized certification programs
- Cybersecurity
- IT management
- Data science
- Cloud computing
One Seven Business Park features 39,855 square feet of office and medical office space, featuring four 7,520-square-foot buildings and one 9,775-square-foot building. Office spaces range from 731 square feet to 9,775 square feet, according to the development brochure.
Spaces at the business park will focus exclusively on office space, with no retail opportunities.
Tony Mangus, managing partner at Mangus Realty Group, said the buildings are in a shell phase, and three of the spaces are being negotiated on by medical professionals.
Morningside at Menger Springs expansion to bring 51 independent living units
Morningside Ministries is a nonprofit organization that started in 1959, providing retirement communities to the San Antonio area.
Morningside at Menger Springs opened in 2004 and has developed to offer independent living, assisted living, transitional care, memory care, long-term care and home health care.
Marketing Director Brooke Craig said the expansion, called The Vistas, will focus on adding independent living units.
This expansion follows a 2023 expansion, which added 74 terrace homes. Craig said these homes are ready to move in by February, and only four homes remain available.
Wellness Plaza at Boerne aims to bring health care, retail to Herff Road
A new wellness-focused retail and medical development is poised for construction off Herff Road in Boerne.
The Wellness Plaza at Boerne aims to bring medical professionals and retail clients together in a 37,000-square-foot development.
The development is one of many projects planned for Herff Road near Gallant Fox and Old San Antonio Road, with a new emergency room, Starbucks and other developments announced in the area.
Eric Perardi, director of development and commercial services for Engel & Völkers and owner of Perardi Development, told Community Impact the goal of the project is to offer space for medical professionals in Boerne, while bringing in high-end retail to keep the facility operational seven days a week.
Northside Community Park construction underway following Sept. 3 groundbreaking
Northside Community Park in Boerne officially broke ground Sept. 3, marking the beginning of the bond-funded project.
The park, which includes a skate park, trails and public restrooms, closed Aug. 22 to prepare for construction. Construction is expected to take 12 to 18 months to complete.
Planned amenities and improvements include:
- Multiuse fields with high-performance LED sports lighting
- Food court with restrooms, shade structures and picnic tables
- Family restrooms
- 12 pickleball courts with shade structure and LED lighting
- Basketball pavilion with two courts and LED lighting
- Splashpad
- All-inclusive playgrounds
- Dog park for small and large dogs
- Half-mile walking trail
- Loop roadway with head in parking and two parking lots, totalling 277 spaces
- Multiple low-impact development treatments
- Stormwater detention ponds
