TEA assigns former Carroll ISD superintendent to monitor Round Rock ISD school board

"It is my sincere desire that all parties work together in a cooperative and productive manner to address the issues identified for the district," Cottrill's letter stated.

Faltys' duties will include participating in and reporting to the TEA on board activities, working with the board and the TEA to identify and correct issues that lead up to actions mentioned in the complaint, attending board meetings and submitting monthly reports documenting the board's progress.

An announcement regarding the district's monitor is set to be made during the board's Dec. 16 meeting.

TEA monitors report on the activities of the board of trustees or the superintendent. According to RRISD documents, a complaint against the district from October 2019 stated that previous board President Chad Chadwell did not recuse himself from discussion about a grievance against himself, alleging a conflict of interest and board overreach.

Faltys' installation as monitor for RRISD stems from that complaint.

Faltys announced his resignation from CISD in August 2020 and vacated his position in January.
