1. Last Austin-area Hooters location closes
The last Austin-area location of the Hooters restaurant franchise closed at the end of May, over a year after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The Round Rock location of Hooters was the final franchise in the Austin area before its last day of operation in May.

2. Developer of The Domain partners with legacy family on 1,200-acres
The group known for spearheading The Domain has partnered with Robinson Family Management to develop more than 1,200 acres in North Austin.
The Robinson family and Endeavor Real Estate Group announced June 24 a partnership to develop two portions of the 6,400-acre ranch that spreads from North Austin and into Round Rock.
Bryce Miller, co-founder and managing principal of Endeavor, said in a news release that properties like the Robinson Ranch are rare.

3. Universal Music partner joins White Rocks project to build hotel and private residences
UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle, an affiliate of Universal Music Group, will join the White Rocks Amphitheater development in the Hill Country to spearhead the hospitality and residential components of the project, branded as UMusic Hotel & Private Residences Austin.

4. Hays County denies agreement with 340-acre development over Edwards Aquifer recharge zone
Milestone Community Builders, an Austin-based homebuilding company, brought a proposed development agreement for the Hays Commons subdivision before the Hays County Commissioners Court on June 9.
After a period of community input and an effort by Precinct 4 Commissioner Walt Smith to table the item for a waiting period of more than 30-days, the court voted to deny the development agreement.

5. Liberty Hill ISD students outperform state average on majority of 2026 STAAR exams
Liberty Hill ISD students posted strong results on the 2026 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, known as STAAR test, with the district scoring at or higher than the state averages on all but one exam.
Out of the 18 STAAR exams reported on by Community Impact, LHISD students only scored below the state average on the seventh grade math exam, according to newly released data from the Texas Education Agency.

6. Georgetown veterans to have VA health care closer to home
Veterans Affairs data shows that Williamson County is home to nearly 40,000 veterans, including many who are part of the Veterans Memorial Advisory Group in Georgetown. Despite a growing population, the only Austin-area VA health care clinics are located in Cedar Park and southeast Austin.
To help close this gap, the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is building a $44.5 million VA outpatient clinic in Round Rock. The 63,808-square-foot facility is expected to open in 2027 and provide primary and preventative care, mental health support, and other specialty services.
