1. FM 3406/Old Settlers Boulevard

This project will enhance the intersections of FM 3406 at Sam Bass Road, Oak Hollow and Bent Tree drives with left-turn lanes on FM 3406 in an attempt to improve safety and traffic flow. FM 3406 will also receive a right-turn lane at the Plantation Drive and Sam Bass intersections. Five-foot shoulders will also be added throughout the project. A pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks and a sidewalk will also be constructed on the north side of FM 3406.

Status: Crews are working on a retaining wall on the south side of FM 3406 near Oak Hollow as of February. Work on the new pedestrian bridge continues with abutments and beam placement in early March. 2. FM 685

The project is a major overhaul of FM 685 in Hutto between SH 130 and Hwy. 79. The road will be widened to accommodate shoulders, left-turn lanes and a median from Hwy. 79 to Riverwalk Drive. Two new bridges 12 feet higher than the current bridges will be built over Brushy Creek to reduce flooding of the roadway. The work is intended to improve traffic flow and safety. Status: TxDOT shifted drivers to new pavement and temporarily closed parts of Riverwalk Drive in Hutto on Feb. 13. Detours are expected for approximately six months to allow for northbound construction along FM 685. Drivers are asked to use Great Western Drive as a detour route. Another road closure will take place on Knowles Drive, and drivers should use Uvalde Drive as the detour route when roadway improvements begin. A Uvalde Drive closure will follow, with Knowles Drive as the detour. 3. Hairy Man Road/Brushy Creek Road Safety Improvements

Williamson County is conducting a traffic study and evaluating potential safety improvements to be constructed along Hairy Man Road/Brushy Creek Road from Arrowhead Trail to Sam Bass Road, a distance of 3.77 miles. Status: An open house was held on Dec. 15, and public comments were accepted for 30 days. Traffic counts have been completed, and a traffic analysis is underway. Survey activity is also underway for the proposed project. Another opportunity for public comment will be available in the near future. 4. SH 45 N connection

The cities of Round Rock and Pflugerville are moving forward on a joint project to connect the SH 45 N frontage roads between Donnell Drive and Heatherwilde Boulevard. Status: The cities have received verbal approval from TxDOT for the project, and Round Rock allocated $500,000 at a February council meeting. 5. Pfluger Farm Lane

This project constructs a bridge and the remainder of the Pfluger Farm Lane roadway connecting Pflugerville Parkway to Town Center Drive. The Pfluger Farm project provides for a new three-lane roadway, a 10-foot multiuse path, street lighting and utility improvements. Pfluger Farm will serve as a north/south route connecting Pflugerville Parkway to Stone Hill Town Center. Traffic along FM 685 entering and exiting Stone Hill has become congested, and this project will provide relief to the FM 685 and Town Center Drive intersection. This new roadway is expected to accommodate 15,000 vehicles per day. Status: Crews are currently working on the extension.
