Some school zones on roads in Round Rock may be changed or removed completely next school year after the City Council voted to redo them over the summer.
The council officially voted to repeal all school zones in the city as of June 1 with the intention of re-establishing new ones in June, Round Rock Transportation Director Gary Hudder said.
Hudder said about 90 percent of school zones would remain the same and that only about six would go away completely.
Police Chief Tim Ryle said the length of some of the zones made traffic citations difficult to prosecute and that the changes would clean some of those spots up.
