Pflugerville to close portion of Kelly Lane for construction

The city of Pflugerville will close a portion of Kelly Lane running east from Falcon Pointe Boulevard West to Jakes Hill Road beginning July 23 because of road construction. The section of the road is expected to reopen August 8, according to city officials.

A detour will funnel drivers through Falcon Pointe Boulevard, Vilamoura Street, Falsterbo Drive, Crispin Hall Lane and Jakes Hill Road during the two-week closure, according to a news release.

Golf course traffic will be allowed access to the closed portion of Kelly Lane during the construction period.

"By performing this work now, it will take two weeks to complete rather than the six it would take if this work was done during the regular school season," city spokeswoman Terri Waggoner said in the news release.

The Kelly Lane road-widening project began in December 2013. The city is adding turning lanes, improved sidewalks, medians and new traffic signals on the boulevard. City officials expect construction to be completed in December.
