Citing concerns from community members, Pflugerville ISD is pulling out of plans to buy 149 acres on Weiss Lane, which district officials previously said was necessary to build a new high school to meet enrollment demands.
"We are re-evaluating our options after learning of the concerns expressed by respected members of our community," Pflugerville Superintendent of Schools Charles Dupre said in a written statement.
Dupre also said while the site was an ideal location for what would have been the district's fourth high school, "no land deal is worth damaging the trust between our district and the community we serve."
The district recently announced plans for purchasing the property situated near Pflugerville Lake, citing increased enrollment demands at schools in the the area east of Hwy. 130, dubbed by district officials as "high-growth."
