New stop signs will be erected at Settlers Valley Drive and 10th Street on Dec. 16 in Pflugerville, which will make the intersection a four-way stop.
Assistant City Manager Tom Word said the city did turning-movement studies, looked at accident history and determined a four-way stop is warranted at the intersection that sees more than 6,000 vehicles pass through per day.
"Obviously this is a significant change on a roadway that has a lot of traffic," Word said. "We are going to make sure that we go out of our way to advertise the change ahead of time."
City Council passed an ordinance to add the new stop signs Nov. 11. At that meeting Councilman Brad Marshall said the signage should be well-advertised to avoid an accident.
